Oxford United vs Hartlepool Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in FA Cup Predictions
Oxford United are having a successful season both in the league and the cups. They are fourth in League One and host National League side Hartlepool who are 16th at present. Oxford are only two points adrift of the final automatic promotion spot and reached the quarter finals of the EFL Cup. They had won three league games in a row before losing their most recent game away at Doncaster Rovers. Home form has seen Oxford lose only to Manchester City over 90 minutes in their last 14 matches. United have kept home clean sheets in their last seven home league games, last conceding in September. To reach this third round, Oxford have beaten Hayes and Yeading and Walsall, both away from home and without conceding a goal. Only one of their last eight home FA Cup ties have been lost with clean sheets in the last three and that includes a win over Newcastle United in 2017.
Hartlepool spent many decades in the Football League before being relegated in 2017. Since then the highest they have finished in the National League is 15th. This season they are 16th, six points above the relegation zone and seven behind the final promotion play-off position. They have only won one of their last five games coming into this cup tie. Just one of their last six away matches have been won with the last three all lost with nine goals conceded. Hartlepool have already beaten one league club in the FA Cup this season beating Exeter City after a replay. This looks a tough one for them though and the tip is for Oxford to get a home win.

Our Oxford United vs Hartlepool Prediction
Oxford United will have been disappointed to draw a non-league side in the third round. Then again, Hartlepool would have hoped for more than an away tie at Oxford. This gives them a good chance to make the fourth round where hopefully a big tie will come along. Oxford can't really complain having just hosted Manchester City in the EFL Cup as well as West Ham United, who they beat 4-0. They are having a great season and could end up being promoted. Hartlepool have struggled since being relegated and although they beat Exeter in the last round, the tip here is for an Oxford home win.
All tips are fully researched and given in good faith, but profits cannot be guaranteed.
