Seventh place Barcelona travel to El Sadar Stadium to take on 10th place Osasuna for Sunday’s matchday 17 La Liga clash. Barcelona come into this match on the back of being dumped out of the Champions League after a 3-0 away defeat to Bayern Munich and finishing third in their respective group. It’s been an inconsistent start for legendary Blaugrana midfielder Xavi as the new manager of the club, he has resided over five matches with two wins, one draw and two defeats. After a promising start to the season, Osasuna have cooled off a bit in recent weeks. They haven’t won a league match in their last seven attempts, although they did manage four draws during that stretch. They currently trail Barcelona by two points in the table. 

It’s been a strange season for Osasuna, with their away form being much better than their current home form. The Pamplona based club have only won a single match at home this season out of eight attempts and have recorded a home goal differential of -6. For the visitors, they’ve been struggling away from home with Xavi’s side only winning one away match out of six attempts, with three draws and two losses. Barcelona, of course, are still a good side. Xavi is a talented manager, and while unproven at this level, he was impressive in his time with Al-Saad. The club is filled to the brim with immensely promising young players thanks to the legendary La Masia academy, and Barca still boast some of the world’s top players in their starting 11. Xavi should eventually be able to right the ship and that could very well start on Sunday against Osasuna.
