Orlando Pirates vs Moroka Swallows Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier Soccer League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier Soccer League Predictions
Orlando Pirates’ CAF Confederations Cup clash on Wednesday was postponed giving the team ample time to prepare for a tough game in the Premier Soccer League, at home to Moroka Swallows. Going to this game, eight points separate the two sides, with Pirates having managed 13 points and placed fifth, while second placed Swallows have 21 points. Pirates’ last act was a 1-0 loss to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns courtesy of Brian Onyango’s first half goal and they will be hoping they don’t lose to the second placed team. Before their loss to Sundowns, Pirates have three straight wins, and indeed the loss is their only one in the last 16 and also the only time they have failed to score in that run. They have five clean sheets in the last 10 matches and scored two or more goals in five of the last 10 games. In the PSL, Pirates have lost once in the last 10 and have scored in 10 of the last 11 but have just one clean sheet in their last five league matches. While Pirates have been scoring consistently, they don’t score a lot of goals; in the last 18 league matches, they have scored two or more in just three games. They also don’t concede a lot; in the last 18 league matches, they have conceded two or more goals in just one, and Pirates head here unbeaten in their last eight home league matches, winning four and keeping three clean sheets. Having conceded seven goals so far, Pirates have the second best defensive record in the league and will be hoping that counts against Swallows, a team they have failed to beat in the last two meetings.
Swallows on the other hand, have the joint best defensive record, having conceded five goals so far. The team, one of the promoted sides from the First Division, is one of the three remaining unbeaten sides after Pirates lost their unbeaten tag in the last round. Swallows have actually not lost a game in their last 16 outings, dating back to their time in the second tier. The last loss for the team came in March, and in the Premier Soccer League, they have managed six wins in the nine matches played and they have scored two or more goals in the last three league matches. In their last game, Swallows beat Cape Town City 3-2 but had Zephaniah Mbokoma sent off, which will be a big miss for them in the Pirates game. However, they will still have the in-form Ruzaigh Gamildien, who has scored five goals in the last three matches. Swallows have two wins and two draws in their four away league matches this season but generally have just one loss in 16 away matches and will be hoping the good away run plays out here.

Our Orlando Pirates vs Moroka Swallows Prediction
This match brings face to face two top sides so far in the PSL and one factor that stands out is that they don’t conceded a lot, while Pirates, the bigger of the two sides, has not been scoring a lot. Swallows have done well, for a team just promoted and with six wins in nine opening league matches, they will feel capable of matching Pirates. Ruzaigh Gamildien has been a revelation for Swallows and they will really bank on his prowess here. Going by recent form and defence/attack balance, we feel Swallows will shock Pirates in this game.
