Orlando Pirates - Mamelodi Sundowns: Form Analysis
Orlando Pirates are the defending champions of the MTN 8 title. They secured their 11th crown in this competition last season, beating Amazulu 1-0. The Buccaneers now have a chance to pull within three of the all-time title winners, Kaizer Chiefs on 15. Pirates eased through the quarter-finals, beating Sekhukhune United 5-0 back in August. However, their semi-final was not as straightforward against a Stellenbosch side that refused to lie down. Pirates won the first leg 2-1 after Stellies were reduced to 10 men and lost the second leg 1-0. The Buccaneers only advanced thanks to the away goals rule. While their form in this competition has been good, Pirates have struggled elsewhere. They have failed to win any of their last four matches in all competitions and are in 14th place in their domestic league, with seven points after five games.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns are the third most successive side in this competition and are bidding to earn their fifth title. While they have been a force in the PSL over the last few years, they have struggled to find the same success in this competition. They have only won the MTN 8 title once in the last 15 seasons. Sundowns beat Swallows 1-0 in the quarter-final and overcame Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-final. The Brazilians have also won all eight of their PSL matches this season and lead the league standings by eight points already. Sundowns have won each of their last four matches against Pirates and are the favourites in this one.

Orlando Pirates & Mamelodi Sundowns Squad Analysis
Several key players for Pirates are missing in this one, including Thembinkosi Lorch, Lesedi Kapinga, and Kermit Erasmus, who are currently sidelined due to injuries. In the latest update, the Sea Robbers have revealed that Katlego Otladisa could potentially return to action, having recovered from the injury he sustained during his debut against Stellenbosch FC.
For Sundowns, Sipho Mbule is still on the treatment table due to an ankle injury, but reports suggest his return is imminent. Thapelo Morena and Bathusi Aubaas will join Mbule on the sideline with a foot and groin injury, respectively. The Brazilian striker Lucas Ribeiro was withdrawn early against Bumamuru over the weekend but has not been ruled out in this one
