Two sides that will be looking to move up the MLS Eastern Conference table will meet this week. Eleventh-placed Orlando City hosts tenth-placed New York City on Thursday night. Orlando City have made a mixed start to the season and are currently on 15 points, with as many as six other sides level on the same tally. With the table still being quite compact, both sides are just nine points behind the early league leaders, and three points above Toronto at the foot of the table. Orlando City played out a 2-2 draw in their last match against Columbus Crew, which was their third consecutive match in all competitions without a win, including two losses and a draw. Over their last six league matches, Orlando have won two, drawn one, and lost three, and they have the exact same record in their first six home matches this term. 

Meanwhile, New York City are yet to find the sort of form that saw them finish last season in third place in the Eastern Conference. The visitors are one of the six sides on 15 points, though they have played a game more than their opponents. New York City took on their hometown rivals, the New York Red Bulls, in their last league match but were unable to overcome the second-from-bottom Red Bulls, losing 1-0, and recording their fourth consecutive loss in all competitions and their third in the league. In away matches this season, New York City have failed to win any, drawing five and losing two of their first seven on the road. The last time these sides met, New York City won 2-1, though they will know that they need to address their poor away form if they want to take the maximum points this time around.
