Olympiacos - West Ham: Form Analysis
While they have started slow in Europe, Olympiacos domestic form has been anything but. Thrylos have started with six wins and one draw from their opening seven Stoiximan Super League games as they look to recapture the league title. This form has been spurred on by their 5-0-0 home record which has seen the team net 18 goals and concede just once. Olympiacos’ last appearance was their matchday two fixture in this competition against TSC at the beginning of the month. That match finished 2-2 which saw the Greek side squander a two goal first half lead as the away team. With their weekend fixture against Panathinaikos being postponed, three weeks have passed since Olympiacos were last in action. Their only defeat this season across all competitions was a 3-2 loss suffered to Freiburg in the opening group stage match.
West Ham will be looking for a positive response after getting shelled 4-1 away from home against Aston Villa on the weekend. The result followed a 2-2 home draw with Newcastle which saw the Hammers snatch a point thanks to an 89th minute Kudus goal. It’s been a decent start to the season for the 2022/23 Conference League champions who are ninth in the Premier League. They’ve started strongly in Europe with back-to-back wins to open up their Europa League group stage campaign. West Ham came from a goal down to score three unanswered second half goals in a 3-1 win over TSC to open the group. They followed that up with a 2-1 win against a tricky Freiburg team in Germany thanks to goals by Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd.

Olympiacos & West Ham Squad Analysis
Olympiacos manager Diego Martinez has a few injury concerns to deal with ahead of his team’s meeting with West Ham. The hosts look set to miss out on the services of defender Nicolas Freire who is dealing with muscular problems. They’ll also be without former Nottingham Forest player Omar Richards who is dealing with an injury to his leg. Additional absences include midfielder Santiago Hezze and fullback Doron Leidner who is out with a cruciate ligament tear. On-loan Wolves forward Daniel Podence is one to watch in attack. He’s started with four goals and two assists in six games so far.
David Moyes has nearly a clean bill of health ahead of his team’s trip to Piraeus. The only injury concerns the 60-year-old manager has had to deal with recently have been to Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson. However, both have returned to training. James Ward-Prowse and Jarrod Bowen will be key to the Hammers chances at getting a win in Greece. The former has already racked up six assists this season while the latter is the team’s leading scorer with six goals.

Our Olympiacos vs West Ham Prediction
This could be a tricky spot for West Ham given the relatively long trip to Piraeus and coming off a heavy loss in their previous game. Olympiacos have been strong at home and if not for their profligacy in front of goal, likely would have won their opening group match against Freiburg. West Ham have a number of dangerous attacking players and should be able to net at least one goal here. However, their defense isn’t in the best shape and they likely concede as well. Back this one to finish at least 1-1. Our Olympiacos vs West Ham prediction is for both teams to score.
