Away from the Turkish football turmoil, Fenerbahce will be in Greece to face Olympiakos in the Europa Conference League quarterfinal first leg. These two face off for the right to play either Lille or Aston Villa in the semifinals. Olympiakos had the perfect preparations for this game, beating Lamia 5-1 for their second straight win. They have consecutive wins in their last two games and will be confident coming here. The Greek side has been involved in some big wins in recent times, the reason they come here having scored 15 in the last five games. One of these wins came in the last round. They thrashed Maccabi Tel Aviv 6-1 in the return leg to end the tie 7-5 winners on aggregate. A 4-1 defeat at home was hard to take in the first leg but Olympiakos made up for it with a comfortable away win. Prior to this game, Olympiakos have had two competitive meetings with the Turkish side – in 2021, in the Europa League. Fenerbahce have been in the news lately for their protests against the Turkish federation. Here they’ll be operating on a different level and we expect them to give their all. The Turkish giants had a request for the postponement of their last domestic game turned down. In protest they fielded an U19 side for the game, with the team walking off after just a minute. That came after an earlier incident when Fenerbahce players clashed with Trabzonspor supporters after a local league game. Fenerbahce will seek to rise from all that in this continental game. They come to the match from two straight wins, following the suspension of their last game against Galatasaray. In their last four matches, the Turkish giants didn’t post a clean sheet. They however failed to score in just one of their last six matches. In this competition, they haven't enjoyed a smooth run. Fenerbahce endured a 1-0 home loss in the return leg of their last 16 game against Union Saint-Gilloise. They sailed through courtesy of their 3-0 away win in the first leg. That defeat was their third in five Europa Conference League matches. They have just three clean sheets in the last 10 matches in this competition.
