The win in the first leg of the Eastern Conference Playoff final just extended the fine run Atlanta United have had in the recent matches but a key figure in their run has been Venezuelan forward Josef Martinez who was once again on the score sheet with the opening goal that gave the hosts a first half lead. A goal by Wright Phillips was controversially ruled out and two more goals did them in as they took a heavy first leg dent. It will be tough to come back from the heavy loss but Red Bull have previously shown nothing is impossible. Having scored in each of their last six matches, Atlanta will have the mental edge in this game as they face a Red Bull side that has failed to score in two of their last three matches, and lost on both occasions. Red Bull have however kept six straight clean sheets at home ahead of this game and won each of the last seven at their backyard. They have also scored in each of the last 13 home matches and lost only once in 15 home matches. Atlanta have four losses in their last 10 matches and this should be a cause for concern at their camp. In the previous five meetings between the two sides, this was the first ever win by Atlanta and only the second match between the two sides to hit over 2.5 goals. In each of the two earlier meetings at the Red Bull Arena, the matches have yielded under 2.5 goals.
