Defending Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo will look to avoid an early exit when they come up against Ñublense on Wednesday. This Group A matchday four will be played at the Estadio Municipal de Concepción with the hosts fourth on three points and the visitors second on four points. With only a point separating them from top-two, the hosts can dream of a huge upset. Doing so will take them into the qualifying positions for the knockout stages. A draw won't be enough as their goal difference is the worst in the group at minus three. That is largely to do with the start the Chilean club had in this competition. They lost 2-0 to Racing and Flamengo in the first two matches before winning 2-1 against Aucas. Their form tapered down after that win though, with all three possible results in their next three domestic league matches – win, loss and draw in that order.

Defending champions Flamengo  can end this matchday anywhere first and fourth. The prospect of such a result should propel the Brazilians who have found their form in recent games. They have won three and drawn one of their last four matches. Even in the Copa Libertadores, after starting with a 2-1 loss to Aucas, they defeated Ñublense 2-0 in the reverse fixture. That was followed by a 1-1 draw against Racing last matchday. With two more games against current leaders Racing and Aucas, they wouldn't want to leave their qualification for late in the day. That could see Flamengo give their all and go for a big win.
