Sixth placed Manchester United travel to Carrow Road to take on bottom place Norwich City on matchday 16 of the Premier League. New United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, one of the most influential figures in the history of German football, finally took to the Old Trafford dugout against Crystal Palace last match in a 1-0 win for the home side. Rangnick, who will move upstairs to a consultancy role after the season, is looking to lay the foundations for his high-intensity gegenpressing system - of which he is considered one of its chief pioneers. The English giants now find themselves three points behind West Ham and the coveted Champions League spots after back to back victories. Despite three points and a clean sheet in their previous match, the Red Devils were not entirely convincing and Palace might feel that they deserved more. 

Norwich have recorded one win, two draws and a defeat in the four matches with Dean Smith as manager - encouraging results given their dreadful form to start the season. They’ve increased their points total to 10, and while still bottom of the table, they are now within three points of 17th place Watford and safety from the relegation zone. Although the Canaries have only scored three goals so far under Smith’s leadership, their advanced attacking statistics for those matches have been much improved. They have been creating more clear cut opportunities and deserved to beat Wolves and arguably Newcastle as well. There are definite signs that they are playing better than they had been under previous manager Daniel Farke, where they had only managed five goals in 11 matches while conceding 26.
