Norway vs Scotland Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Steve Ashfield | in Euro Predictions
Scotland are in a strong position already in Euro 2024 qualifying Group A. They top the table by three points from Spain and now travel to third placed Norway on Saturday June 17th. The Scottish side are already assured of a place in the Euro play-offs due to their recent Nations League promotion. They'd much rather finish in the top two and avoid the play-offs. That is looking possible and after two home wins (Including one over Spain), they are five points clear of Norway. The other two countries in this group are Georgia (also already in the play-offs) and Cyprus, who are unlikely to finish in the top two. Both of Scotland's wins over Cyprus and Spain both came at home. Now they need to start getting some points on the road to boost their qualification hopes. Norway will be looking to get their first win in the group after losing in Spain and drawing in Georgia. Losing to Scotland would be a disaster for them as they have to finish in the top two to qualify for the finals.

Norway - Scotland: Form Analysis
Norway have gone six games without a win. Their sole success came when winning away in Ireland last November. Erling Haaland hasn't scored for them since netting against Slovenia last September. The 'Drillos' are strong at home though (both qualifiers played have been on the road) with only one defeat in their last ten matches. That was to Serbia last September and their most recent home game saw them draw 1-1 with Finland. Six of their last eight home fixtures have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. In Euro qualifiers, the Lions have one loss in six at home but only two of them have been won.
Scotland have only lost one of their last seven internationals. That defeat was on the road when losing 2-1 in Turkey last November. They will be looking to build on the great start they have made to this Euro qualifying campaign. A 3-0 win over Cyprus was expected but to beat Spain (playing in the Nations League this week) was one of their best results in years. A win over Norway will take them six points clear at the top of the group and eight clear of Norway. Away form is not that good though with the last five played only producing a win in Armenia. They haven't played Norway for ten years but have only lost one of the last four games played against them. Seven of the last nine matches played against Norway have had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Norway & Scotland Squad Analysis
The big question coming into this game is whether Erling Haaland will play for Norway. He won the Champions League with Manchester City last weekend and there's been a fair amount of celebrating since then. However, all the indications are that he will be playing against Scotland. It's unlikely that both he and Alexander Sorloth will both in the starting line-up. Serloth has been in better scoring form for Norway than his illustrious team mate and would be a dangerous sub for Norway if starting on the bench. Marcus Pedersen is in the squad despite not playing in Feyenoord's last couple of matches of the season.
Scotland will be without defender Anthony Ralston with players such as Grant Hanley, Che Adams and Craig Gordon also absent. Scotland have included a couple of uncapped players in their squad. John Souttar is a doubt but the Rangers defender is expected to play. The good news is that Scott McTominay is fit to play against Norway. He's already scored three goals in this Euro qualifying group. If scoring on Saturday, he'll become the first Scot to score in three straight internationals since Hughie Gallacher 93 years ago.
