Northern Ireland are going for their first win of Group C2 of the Nations League when they play host to Kosovo on Match Day 5. This game means more to Northern Ireland than Kosovo as the hosts are hoping to avoid the relegation playoff. Northern Ireland are third on two points, four less than Kosovo who are second on six points. Northern Ireland are winless in their last five matches; in their last game, they rose from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Cyprus. That was the second straight game in which they conceded to or more but they’ve scored twice also in the last two matches. In the last five matches they have failed to score in three, and only managed one clean sheet. Their only win at home in the last 14 matches was against Lithuania and they’ve failed to score in eight of those14 matches.

Kosovo will go into this game having managed two wins in their last four matches, one of them being against Northern Ireland. They’ve failed to score in two of their last three matches and in the two wins, they’ve scored two or more goals. Kosovo need a win to secure their place in League C; the most they can get in this group is 12 points; they already have six with two games to play, but given their goal difference, it will be hard to finish above second place. Kosovo haven’t done so well away from home; they have one win in the last five matches and that win, against Cyprus, also produced their only clean sheet in the last five away matches. Twice in five away matches, they’ve lost and also drawn twice, while they have failed to score in two of the five.
