Nigeria vs Egypt Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON
by Daniel Ngulu | in AFCON Predictions
Egypt had a delay in their travel plans to Cameroon for the 2021 AFCON finals due to positive Covid tests in the squad but will be hoping that doesn’t jeopardize their plans. They start it off against Nigeria on Tuesday in Group D. This will be a cracker, and the most important game in the group for both nations, as they are the highest ranked in the pool. Nigeria haven’t played since their 1-1 draw with Cape Verde in November that confirmed their place in the final round of World Cup 2022 qualifiers. They go to this game unbeaten in the last three matches and have one loss in the last six. In those six matches, Nigeria have scored twice in four and they will be looking to continue with their rich AFCON run. They have 10 wins in the last 14 AFCON matches and failed to score in just one of those 14 matches.
Egypt will benefit from the inclusion of their top stars in the squad, those who missed the Arab Cup in Qatar. They started well at the Arab Cup but were dismal at the end, failing to score in their last two matches as they lost to Tunisia in the semis, and then on post match penalties to Qatar in the third place playoff. Going into this competition, Egypt have one of the most lethal forwards in the world at the moment – Mo Salah – and he is coming from a very prolific run in the Premier League. He is a key component in the team and perhaps the player they missed most at the Arab Cup. Egypt have failed to score in just two of their last 17 matches but they have failed to keep a clean sheet in half of their last 10 games. They have lost just twice in their last 29 AFCON matches.

Our Nigeria vs Egypt Prediction
Two giants of African football face off here and what a cracker this should be, if the two sides can manage to keep their standards. Nigeria go to this game on a fine run and we expect that Egypt will be stronger too, after the addition of star players to the team that was at the Arab Cup. Both sides are strong in attack, and we will go with both to score.
