Nigeria vs Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in World Cup Predictions
Argentina put in an appalling performance against Croatia and are in danger of failing to reach the last sixteen. They also struggled in qualifying before clinching qualification on the final matchday but performances haven't been anywhere near the standard we expect of an Argentinian side. Messi has failed to score so far and that includes the vital penalty miss against Iceland in their opening fixture. Their defence was a big worry coming into this tournament and those fears have been totally confirmed with some shambolic defending in the first two games. Now they take on a Nigeria side who have no reason to be scared of them at all.
That's because these two sides met last year and Nigeria came from 2-0 down to beat the Argentinians 4-2 so they know just how bad Argentina can defend. Not that Nigeria defended that well themselves when facing Croatia in their opening game of this tournament as they went down to a 2-0 defeat and frankly looked a poor side. That all changed when they took on Iceland on Friday and beat the European team 2-0 to take them into second place in this group and in with a chance of reaching the knock-out stages for the third straight tournament. This is such a tough game to predict because surely Argentina can't play as bad as they did against Croatia and can Nigeria keep up their form considering the poor performance against Croatia. Both sides have good attacking options and defences that can't entirely be trusted, so go for over 2.5 goals to be scored in this game.

Our Nigeria vs Argentina Prediction
Argentina last failed to make it out of their group at the 2002 World Cup but are in danger of doing that again this time around. Two dismal performances and no goals from Lionel Messi have left them bottom of the group and even a win here might still see them on their way home to a very upset nation. They must surely be able to play better than they did against Croatia but that defence has to wake itself up and start defending better. Nigeria made a good comeback by beating Iceland on Friday but still have work to do if they want to get through to the last sixteen. It's an incredibly hard game to predict but it looks a game that should have a few goals in it because of the dodgy defences so go for over 2.5 goals in the game.
