It hasn’t been entirely decent for Nice and Monaco so far in the season and as the two sides head to faceoff, they will both be gunning for the three points at stake. Nice plays host in this game, having so far managed 17 points from their opening nine matches and are placed fourth. Meanwhile, Monaco are eighth in the standings with 14 points from nine matches. Nice are coming from a tough Europa League clash, away to Slavia Praha, where they suffered a 3-2 loss and will want to do better in Ligue 1, where they have no loss in the last five matches. In the most recent five Ligue 1 matches, Nice have three wins, two draws and two clean sheets while they have scored two or more in three of the five. Earlier in the season, they lost 3-1 to Montpellier and 3-0 to PSG; those two are the only times in Ligue 1 this season that they have conceded more than one goal. Nice have scored 14 times in the nine league matches played, but they have not been entirely satisfactory in defence, conceding 10 goals in the nine matches. While six of these goals have come in two matches, having just three clean sheets in nine matches points to some defensive frailty. In four home matches in the league this season, Nice have lost one, against PSG, but won twice. They have an impressive run at home in the league, with just two losses in 14 and have failed to score in just one of 22 Ligue 1 home games. They have beaten Monaco twice in the last three matches and will be confident of repeating the feat here, like in Monaco’s last visit in March.

Monaco have one win in five matches against Nice but will be banking on the morale from their big win in the last match. They thrashed Bordeaux 4-0 to bring to an end a three-match unbeaten run and having had no midweek fixture, they will feel fresher. The win in the last game was Monaco’s fifth in nine Ligue 1 matches and after a poor campaign last season, they can look ahead with hope. It was their second clean sheet this season, after the 1-0 win over Metz earlier on and calls on a focus on better defending. They have conceded two goals or more in four of their nine matches so far and had a friendly match with Nice, in September, in which they also conceded twice, but won 3-2. Monaco have three straight losses away from home, and the most recent was disastrous as they fell 4-1 to Lyon, after conceding four times in the opening half. They have managed just four wins in the last 23 away Ligue 1 matches, which is not a very good run as they head to a side that has done well at home in recent times. They have one clean sheet in nine away league matches and in five of them they have conceded two goals or more, but they have scored in eight of the nine.
