Newcastle - Wolves: Form Analysis
Newcastle are struggling coming into this round and are without a win in their last five outings. Eddie Howe’s men have lost three matches on the trot, all by similar 2-0 scorelines and have managed just two goals in their last five games. This has seen them fall out of the top four and out of the places for Europe completely and they will be keen to arrest this slump and avoid falling further down the standings. The Magpies’ strength has been their defence, which has conceded an amazing 17 goals all campaign but surprisingly, they have been unable to keep a shutout in their last six matches after managing 10 clean sheets in 11 matches prior to this slump. The sooner they return to their defensive solidity the better it will be for them.
Wolves are turning their season around and come to this match after managing an impressive and important 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at home last time out. The win helped Julien Lopetegui’s men move five points clear of the relegation zone, a place they have been struggling to get out of for the majority of the season and they will be keen to ensure they claw further away after this round. Wolves have secured four of their seven wins for the season in the league in 2023 and two of those wins have surprisingly come against teams in the top four picture (Liverpool and Spurs) and this should give them belief going into this match. They have however not been consistent though and have only gone two matches without defeat twice this year.

Newcastle & Wolves Squad Analysis
Newcastle will be without three players for this match. Emil Krafth and Joelinton are ruled out due to injury and suspension while Fabian Schar is a doubt. Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson have scored 17 league goals between them but their respective goal droughts have coincided with the team’s woeful run. Wilson has gone four matches without a goal while Almiron has been firing blanks for the last three matches. Irrespective of this, they are again expected to start up front against Wolves.
Wolves have a longer injury list than Newcastle with six players out injured with the latest being striker Diego Costa who was withdrawn after 28 minutes against Spurs. Raul Jimenez should come in to start if the Spaniard is unable to feature on Sunday but the real goal threats for the West Midlands club lie deeper on the pitch with midfielder Ruben Neves managing five league goals (club top scorer) and fullback Adama Traore who scored against Spurs and now has two in the league.

Our Newcastle vs Wolves Prediction
Both teams are in dire need of three points to help in their respective quests but only Wolves can be content with a draw, as Newcastle seeks a top four finish. However, both haven't been strong in attack and they havent won a lot lately either. Given the two teams’ unconvincing performances coming into this match, our first prediction for Newcastle United v Wolverhampton Wanderers is a draw.
