Newcastle fans will definitely recognize a pattern developing. It's January and their side has just had its almost traditional Third Round exit from the FA Cup. Now they face another long battle to try and stay in the Premier League. Their opponents also have plenty of problems after yet more criticism of their playing style (or lack of it). The home side are two points from safety but their last five games has seen a 1-1 draw and four straight 1-0 defeats, see I told you there was a pattern. It's all the more disappointing after those two league wins over Liverpool and Spurs lightened the mood at the club. With West Ham at home on Saturday followed by trips to Watford and Everton, Newcastle could easily be in even deeper trouble by the end of the month. Manchester United eventually got past Sheffield United on Saturday thanks to a late penalty. A really dire display had their fans and former players upset again. That was their second win in a row though and three games without defeat but the goals still aren't flowing for the team. Newcastle have the habit of getting results against top sides and have beaten Liverpool and drawn with Chelsea at home. Man Utd may well be starting a good run but I think the best bet here is on under 2.5 goals to be scored.
