Newcastle vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in FA Cup Predictions
The boardroom woes aside, Newcastle United have been a pretty decent side since the return of action and will be hoping to continue with the rise when they host Manchester City in the FA Cup. They were pegged late in their last match by Aston Villa when they seemed to be coasting to a second straight win and clean sheet. It ended 1-1 after Ahmed El Mohamady’s 83rd minute equalizing goal. The draw saw Newcastle’s unbeaten run extend to five matches across all competitions, and with three clean sheets in the process. They have scored in each of their last four matches, and will be looking to carry this form against the side with the fifth best defence in the Premier League. They are unbeaten in the last seven matches at home but four of them have ended in draws. The Magpies have failed to score in three matches but have five clean sheets in the last seven home matches across all competitions. At home this season, they have beaten Chelsea, Manchester United and Sheffield United while they drew with Manchester City in the Premier League. While they have not lost in the last five FA Cup matches, Newcastle have twice been forced to replays. They eliminated Rochdale and Oxford United after replays before toiling their way past West Bromwich Albion. In 21 FA Cup matches, Newcastle have one clean sheet and they have conceded twice in each of their last two. Three of their five FA Cup matches this season have ended in over 2.5 goals and they have failed to score in one of the five. This is the first time they have reached the last eight of this competition since 2006.
On the other hand, Manchester City suffered their first defeat since the resumption of football, falling 2-1 to Chelsea on Thursday. They also had Fernandinho sent off and will be unavailable for this FA Cup clash. The loss at Stamford Bridge was City’s second in the last five matches after the defeat by Manchester United before the forced break. They have now lost back to back away matches for the first time since 2016. The last time they went without a win in three successive away games was in 2017 when losing to Monaco, drawing at Arsenal and losing to Chelsea. Each of City’s three matches after resumption have ended in over 2.5 goals, and they have scored in each match. They have already relinquished the Premier League title and will be keen to stretch the defence of the FA Cup. They have a fine run in the FA Cup with nine straight wins and in seven of these they have scored three or more goals. They last lost an FA Cup game in February 2018. This will be their first Premier League opponent this season in the FA Cup after convincing wins over Port Vale and Fulham then a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Our Newcastle vs Manchester City Prediction
Newcastle United have played five FA Cup matches this season, two more than City because of replays against lower division teams. They will hope to get it right at the first time of asking here. They are unbeaten in five FA Cup games obviously and they meet a City side unbeaten in nine and looking to retain the cup making it four domestic cup wins in a row.. One factor standing out though, is the high scoring nature of the two sides’ recent matches as well as their recent meetings. Coming from a defeat to Chelsea in the league, City will want to give a response here, but Newcastle have had a good run lately and will not make it easy. We expect an attacking game here and banking on this to produce over 2.5 goals looks good.
