Newcastle United bid to make it a magnificent seven successive Premier League wins. They begin this game in third place and host Leeds United who are 15th place in the table. Newcastle just keep on winning but are still seven points behind leaders Arsenal and have played a game more. A form guide for the last 10 league games has them a point clear at the top. Boxing Day saw them resume the Premier League season with a 3-0 win at Leicester City with all the goals coming in the first 32 minutes. Newcastle are one of only two clubs in the Premier League who are yet to lose a home game. The other unbeaten side are Arsenal, who Newcastle travel to next week. United have won five of their eight home league games this season with the last four all being won. 11 goals have been scored in those wins with the last three all being to nil and the only goal conceded was a penalty. Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last nine home league games with only a defeat by Liverpool in the last 18,

Leeds United haven't been given an easy festive fixture list. Wednesday saw them lose 3-1 at home to Manchester City and now they have to travel to in-form Newcastle United. After this game they don't play another top five side until mid-February. They are currently only two points above the bottom three but do have a game in hand on their rivals. United were never going to beat Manchester City but they did put up a good show in the second half. They look better than last season and should again stay up. A couple of new defenders being signed in the January transfer window would be a good idea. They've now conceded 10 goals in their last three league fixtures with only one clean sheet in their last eight. After a bright start to the season, only two of their last 12 league games has been won. Away from home, five of the last six has been won. Another loss looks likely here.
