Newcastle United will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. St James’ Park will be the venue for this encounter, and the hosts will come into it in seventh place in the league standings while the visitors are tenth. Newcastle have yet to find the type of form they showed last season when they cracked a top-four finish. With a bumper-to-bumper fixture list, the Magpies have found it difficult to grind out results this term, and the injuries within their camp are starting to pile up. The Geordies will come into this match following three consecutive defeats. That included back-to-back league losses to Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, while the most recent was a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League in midweek. While that result did bring an end to their European dreams, it may act as a blessing in disguise for their league aspirations as they can now expend all their focus on one competition. Newcastle beat this opponent home and away last season and are the bookmakers’ favourite to win this one as well. 

Meanwhile, Fulham went into the November international break riding a wave of four matches without a win, including three losses and a draw. However, since returning from the break, they have been banging in goals for fun and look like a different team, with Alex Iwobi and Raul Jimenez leading the line. The Cottagers will head to St. James’ Park following two consecutive 5-0 victories, the first against Nottingham Forest and then again last week against David Moyes’ West Ham United. The only match they have lost since the last international break was a 4-3 thriller against Liverpool, where The Reds snatched the points with less than five minutes of regulation time to play. To underline their uptick of late, Fulham have scored 16 goals in their last four league games, following just ten goals scored in their first 12 games of the season. However, Marco Silva’s side will now be hoping to claim another big scalp, though they have not beaten this opponent in their last six attempts dating all the way back to 2018.
