Newcastle United host Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday with the aim of halting their slide down the table. The Magpies are 14th in the table, seven points clear of the drop, not room enough to feel comfortable. Burnley, six points further on than Newcastle in eighth place, are legitimately in the hunt for Champions League places. Manchester City's ban means that a wildcard selection could be drafted into club football's biggest competition. With four wins from their last five Premier League games, the Clarets have the form required to put them in contention. While their success has largely been built off the back of their Turf Moor pedigree, they can hardly be called weary travellers. Sean Dyche's team have won their last two away matches, those being at Old Trafford and St. Mary's respectively. Their last meeting with Newcastle was as recently as December, the reverse fixture in Burnley. That was a 1-0 victory for the home side, a scrappy match that we anticipate a repeat of this weekend.

The forecast is bleak for Newcastle. One win from their last nine Premier League matches is relegation form and if it continues then they will inevitably go down. The joint-worst scorers in the division, it seems as though their goalscoring ability is only diminishing as the season goes on. Having failed to score for three successive Premier League games, it seems like a bad time to face a stingy Burnley defence that has kept three clean sheets from their last four top-flight matches.
