Newcastle - AC Milan: Form Analysis
A draw will keep Newcastle’s European journey going in the Europa League but a win can see them progress in the Champions League. Eddie Howe’s men are two points behind second-placed PSG who will be away to group leaders Dortmund also on Wednesday. They will have to be at their very best though to achieve one of these scenarios as they have wavered recently. The Magpies have won just twice in their last seven fixtures and have been defeated four times. Two of those defeats have come in their last two outings and in both, they have conceded at least three times. They were hammered 4-1 over the weekend by Tottenham in the Premier League. Newcastle have lost twice in Group F and one of those defeats came the last time they were home in this competition. They drew 0-0 with Milan on matchday one and if push comes to shove, they will gladly settle for the same result.
AC Milan are also arriving here off the back of a defeat. Their fourth Serie A loss of the season saw them drop nine points off the pace. Stefano Pioli’s men were defeated 3-2 away to Atalanta over the weekend to suffer their second loss in three matches. In both defeats, they conceded three times. Milan are also struggling to win matches and in their last 10 fixtures, they have claimed all the spoils just three times. To at least continue their European presence in the Europa League, Milan have to win here. A win, coupled with a loss for PSG in Germany will see the seven-time Champions League winners advance to the round of 16.

Newcastle & AC Milan Squad Analysis
Newcastle have been blighted by injuries and could have no less than 10 players absent for this do-or-die clash. Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Elliot Anderson, Sven Botman, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, Javier Manquillo, and Matt Target are out injured. Former Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali continues his 10-month suspension. A positive for Newcastle though is that Callum Wilson is back from a one-month injury layoff. The English forward made an appearance off the bench against Tottenham. Having him back is a big boost as he is one of their top scorers with eight goals thus far. He could however start from the bench here with Alexander Isak, Aaron Gordon, and Miguel Almiron set to start in a three-pronged attack again.
AC Milan are also set to miss a good number here due to injuries. Marco Sportiello, Mallick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu, and Noah Okafor are all out injured while Simon Kjaer is a doubt. Davide Calabria will be available for selection as his sending-off against Atalanta doesn't apply here. Tallismatic winger Rafael Leao has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury but could be available for this game. The Portuguese international has in the last few days trained with the Milan first team. Leao scored in Milan's only win in Group F which was a 2-1 victory over PSG. All hope however for a goal will be placed on Olivier Giroud who is the club's top scorer with nine. The Frenchman was on target over the weekend. Giroud scored nine goals against Newcastle in his time in England and will be a huge threat to the hosts.

Newcastle vs AC Milan - Other Interesting Predictions
Newcastle United to win
For our second take of this match, we settle for Newcastle United to win. Newcastle United have been almost perfect at home this season and only twice have they failed to win in their 11 games at St. James' Park. Milan on their part have struggled in their away matches and in their last four such games, they failed to win.
Newcastle United to score first
Our third prediction is for Newcastle United to score the match's opening goal. Eddie Howe's men have scored first in all but one of their home matches this season across all competitions. This is a trend we expect to extend to this game.
