Second-placed New England will take on DC United, who are eighth in the MLS, on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The hosts are currently on 40 points after 22 matches, eight points behind the current leaders Cincinnati and two clear of Nashville SC in third place. New England bounced back well from their defeat against the New York Red Bulls to beat Atlanta United 2-1 in midweek. With that win, they now have a record of four wins, one draw and one loss in their last six matches. The Revolution are unbeaten at home this season with eight wins and three draws, and they are one of only two sides, along with Cincinnati, that are yet to taste defeat on home soil. New England won the reverse fixture 2-1 back in March and will be heavily fancied to secure their ninth home win of the season in this one. 

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney’s DC United were unable to overcome David Beckham’s Inter Miami in their last match and had to settle for a 2-2 draw against the league’s current bottom club. With that, they remained in eighth place in the league with 30 points and are four points behind Orlando City, who currently occupy the last automatic final series qualification spot. DC United have won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six league matches, while their away record this season reads as four wins, two draws, and six losses in 12 matches on the road. The visitors have lost their last two encounters against this opposition and have only won one in their last six while losing the other five. They will find it difficult to get anything from this match.
