Group D at Euro 2024 turned out to be one of the most difficult to predict, as we saw Austria rise to clinch top spot, while the Netherlands were forced to settle for third-place behind France.
However, the Netherlands made no mistake in the Round of 16 on Tuesday evening as they overcame Romania with a convincing 3-0 victory. Cody Gakpo opened the scoring 20 minutes into the match before Donyell Malen bagged a brace late in the day to secure his side’s entry to the last eight.
Ronald Koeman’s side have now won seven, drawn one and lost two of their last 10 games in all competitions and are 90 minutes away from returning to the semi-final of a European Championship for the first time since 2004 when they finished third.
