Group G of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the UEFA region will have a nervy finish, with each of the top three teams in position to finish top. Two of them face off, in what is expected to be a tough game; Netherlands playing host to Norway. The Netherlands have 20 points, at the top of the group, two ahead of third placed Norway. Both these teams will rue missed chances in their last outings. The Netherlands will particularly have regrets at failing to see off Montenegro in a game they led 2-0 with eight minutes to go but drew 2-2. A win there would have secured their place at the 2022 World Cup. Still, they go to this game on a great run; unbeaten in six and having failed to score in just one of the last 10 matches. They have scored two or more goals in seven of their last 10 games and at home, they have seven straight wins in World Cup qualification. Netherlands’ only loss in World Cup qualification at home in the last 10 games was against France; they’ve won the other nine.

Norway, on the other hand will have regrets at only playing to a 0-0 draw at home to Latvia. A win there would have seen them go joint top ahead of this final game, but instead they dropped to third after Turkey won their game. Now it is a nervy ending as they travel to the Netherlands and without their talisman Erling Haaland, who is injured. They are unbeaten in six matches, but three of them are draws, and they have three clean sheets in that run. Norway have suffered two losses in their last 10 matches and failed to score in just two of the 10. Away from home, they have five wins and a loss in the last 10. Meanwhile, they are unbeaten in their last five away matches in World Cup qualification but none of the five teams they’ve faced can match Netherlands in their current form.
