NEC Nijmegen will host Ajax on Sunday looking to peel further away from the Dutch Eredivisie relegation zone. The hosts are currently 14th in the standings three points behind eighth-placed Ajax. NEC have slowly clawed their way up the standings and will hope to continue to do that this weekend. Rogier Meijer’s men haven’t lost any of their last five fixtures and have won once. They will seek to put this behind them immediately by bagging all three points here. John van’t Schip’s men seem to have turned the corner at least in the league where they are currently unbeaten in four outings. They have won four times in this positive spell and this has allowed them to move into the European places. The record Dutch champions, who owe their recent fortunes to a prolific attack, thumped Vitesse 5-0 last weekend. Another victory on Sunday could see them move to within nine points of the top four.
