Eastern Conference seventh-place Nashville hosts the West’s third-seeded team Seattle as the regular season winds down in the MLS. Both sides will be fighting for playoff seeding in the final few matchdays to improve their chances of lifting the MLS Cup. Nashville currently hold a seven point lead over the play-in spots eighth and ninth-place, as well as a game in hand advantage. They’ll be looking to cash that in as they play only their second match at Geodis Park since their runners-up finish in the Leagues Cup. The Boys in Gold are coming off a 1-1 away draw against San Jose, extending the team’s unbeaten run to four games. However, Nashville have seen three of those four end in stalemates with the only win coming in a 3-0 away victory over San Jose. Nashville have been markedly better at home, winning eight of 13 compared to just four wins from 16 away trips.

The Sounders are somewhat quietly having a solid year as they’ve moved up to third in the Western Conference. However, the West standings are extremely close with only three points separating second-place from seventh-place. Seattle has managed consistent results this season regardless of whether they are playing at home or away. Their last match ended in a 2-1 away win over Colorado, a victory which extended Seattle’s unbeaten run to five games. This will be the Sounders’ fifth away match in their last six league fixtures and Brian Schmetzer’s men have impressively managed to go unbeaten over the stretch. Seattle have won two and drawn two in their last four away matches, bringing their seasonal road record to 6-4-5.
