Two sides at opposite ends of the NPFL standings will meet on Saturday when Nasarawa United play host to Rivers United at Lafia Township Stadium. The Solid Miners are the first side below the dotted line in 17th place, while the Pride of Rivers are leading the league standings after 17 games. Let’s get into the match prediction!

Newly promoted Nasarawa United have found it tough to deal with the step up in class in the top flight, having managed just 18 points from their first 16 games in the division. 

However, the Solid Miners did notch up their fifth win of the campaign last time out, beating Lobi Stars 1-0 which lifted them off the foot of the table and put them level on points with 16th-placed Plateau United. 

Notably, despite their struggles, the hosts have been well above average at home this term, earning 14 of their 18 points at Lafia Township Stadium, including four wins in their last five. 

Meanwhile, after only managing an eighth-placed finish last season, Rivers United have returned to prominence this term, currently two points clear of Remo Stars at the summit of the league standings. 

The Pride of Rivers secured their ninth win of the campaign last weekend, coming from a goal down to beat Kwara United on their home patch. They have only conceded nine goals to date which is the joint-best record in the top flight.

However, the visitors have struggled for results on the road, currently winless in their last four outings (W0 D2 L2), while they’ve only won two of their eight away games this season.
