Lazio’s slow start to the Serie A is bound to get tougher as they travel to Napoli on Match Day 3. Two straight defeats have Lazio in 18th place while Napoli are second going into this game. Napoli are one of four teams still with a perfect run after wins over Frosinone and Sassuolo. Victor Osimhen is already off the mark for Napoli, with three goals in the opening two matches. His first half penalty helped Napoli to a 2-0 win over Sassuolo, made easier when Sassuolo were reduced to 10 men. Now on a five-game unbeaten run in Serie A, Napoli will hope to get one more before the international break. New coach Rudi Garcia has had little trouble settling in and this should go well. Napoli's confidence will also be fueled by the fact they have beaten Lazio in four of the last five meetings.

At this stage of the campaign, it is hard to imagine Lazio finished as runners up last season. They even beat Napoli in March on their march towards finishing second. However, they’ve been a pale shadow of that team, after losses to Genoa, a promoted side, and Lecce, 16th place finishers. A tough preseason run hasn’t resulted in much positivity coming into the season and they have to do better. Defeats in four matches out of five against Napoli, and playing away from home won’t favor Lazio here. It will further concern them that away from home in Serie A, they’ve suffered three defeats in the last five games. In each of those defeats, they’ve conceded two or more goals. While they won the last meeting with Napoli, Lazio have managed just three wins in 13 league matches against Napoli.
