Napoli were dumped out of the Coppa Italia by Atalanta and will hope to bounce back when they host Juventus in Serie A. The two teams go to this game with title ambitions, Napoli currently sixth on 37 points and Juventus third on 42 points. A 2-1 loss to Genoa in their last league game left Napoli four points out of the Champions League places. It was their second loss in three league matches and they have only two clean sheets in the last 11 Serie A matches. In their last two home matches in Serie A, they scored eight goals, but that was against teams in the bottom 15 – Fiorentina and Parma. Napoli have scored in seven straight home games in the league and failed in just one of 10 – the 2-0 loss to Sassuolo in November. This match against Juventus throws focus back to the controversial October fixture when Napoli failed to travel to Turin due to Covid-19 related issues back in Naples. The league management would then award Juve a win and deduct Napoli a point. That was all overturned though after Napoli’s appeal and the match will be played at a later date.

Juventus have a game in hand, thus a chance to close in on league leaders Milan, who are ahead by seven points. The champions have the best defence so far in the league, having conceded 18 goals, but at 41, they’ve scored three goals lesser than Napoli. Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been the main man for the Turin side, and is currently on 16 goals in the league. After a 0-0 draw with Internazionale in the Coppa Italia in their last match, Juventus have four clean sheets in the last five matches. They are unbeaten in the last seven, with six wins and six clean sheets. Away from home, they have six wins in the last seven matches and have scored at least two goals in six. They’ve lost only one of 14 away matches.
