Napoli will seek a win to get some momentum back to their season as they welcome a relegation-threatened Verona on Saturday. The hosts are runaway leaders with a 16-point cushion at the top while the visitors start this round in the relegation zone and four points behind safety. A 1-0 loss to AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final made it a tricky couple of weeks for the leaders who have also lost to Milan in the league. While they sweat over top-striker Victor Osimhen’s fitness, the mandate would be to get back to winning ways ahead of the return leg to Milan in the Champions League. Losses to Milan and Lazio were the only blots in their record since losing to Inter in their first match of the calendar year. Both those losses have come at this venue which could be slightly disconcerting coming into this match.

Verona are fighting to avoid relegation as they remain four points behind Spezia, the first team above the bottom-three. A morale-boosting 2-1 win over Sassuolo has given them a fighting chance, as that result ended a six-game winless run in the league where they lost four matches. A worrying fact for the visitors is their poor scoring record with only the bottom-placed Sampdoria scoring fewer goals than their 24 in this campaign. The scoring touch has certainly evaded them on the road with Verona failing to find the back of the net in three of their last four Serie A away matches. Even more worryingly, they are the only Serie A side yet to win an away match and have lost three of their last four in that sequence.
