This match to be played at the Al-Awwal Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday will be the first semi-final of this competition. The winner of this tie will progress to face the winner of the other semi-final between Inter Milan and Lazio. Napoli qualified for this tournament as the defending Scudetto champions, but their recent league form has been very poor. They find themselves out of top-four in the Serie A standings and face an uphill battle there. Napoli have won this competition two times before and will hope for a turnaround of fortunes, although the last time they won this was back a decade ago. They have even won once earlier in the season against Napoli, a 3-1 win in Naples. Replicating that win, at least on current form, looks a possibility although they could adopt a safety-first approach and close out Napoli’s chances.
