Nantes vs Toulouse Prediction & Betting Tips - French Cup
by Devesh Jaganath in French Cup Predictions
The eagerly anticipated final of the Coupe de France will be played out this weekend, with Nantes taking on Toulouse at Stade de France on Saturday evening. Nantes are the defending champions after they overcame Nice 1-0 last year and are now looking to repeat the feat they managed in 1999 and 2000, where they won the coveted trophy back-to-back. Meanwhile, Toulouse will be making only their second final appearance in the history of this competition and will be hoping to bring an end to an over 50-year wait, last winning this competition way back in 1957.

There’s little to choose between the sides when we look at the bookmakers' odds, with Toulouse showing up as the marginal favourite at odds of 2.3 for the win. Nantes are returning 2.8 to defend their title in 90 minutes, while the draw currently holds the outside betting market at prices of 3.3 and better. Both sides have a negative goal difference in the league this year, which illustrates their defensive frailties and brings the over/ under market into play with odds of 1.85 available for over 2.5 goals to be scored in this one. Clean sheets have also been a rare occurrence in matches involving these sides this season and the both teams to score option looks like another smart play, returning in the region of 1.66 to land.

Nantes - Toulouse: Form Analysis
Despite their strong cup run Nantes have struggled in the league this season and are still firmly involved in the relegation battle, currently in 16th place in Ligue 1, level on points with Brest, who are the first side in the drop zone. Nantes played out a 2-2 draw in their last match against Troyes, which was their third match without a win, including two draws and a loss. Nantes have managed just one win in their last eight matches in all competitions, along with four draws and three losses. Meanwhile, Toulouse got themselves into 12th place in the league thanks to a 1-0 win in their last match against Lorient. With that win, Toulouse have recorded five wins and three losses in their last eight matches in all competitions, scoring 15 and conceding nine in that time.

Nantes & Toulouse Squad Analysis
Sadly, Nantes will be without the services of Remy Deschamps for this one after the cup competition goalkeeper strained his groin in the semi-final, which will see Alban Lafont return between the sticks and likely captain the side in this crucial encounter. The only other notable absentee for Nantes is Pedro Chirivella, who is also out for the rest of the season through injury, while Andrei Girotto will return for the defending champions following his one-match ban. Toulouse, on the other hand, will be nervously waiting for an update on the fitness of Brecht Dejaegere, who missed last weekend's league match with a concussion. Rhys Healey and Rafael Ratao are also likely to be out with injuries, though Branco van den Boomen will be eligible to return to the starting eleven for Toulouse after completing his ban last week.

Our Nantes vs Toulouse Prediction
With both sides being some distance from their best this season, it’s difficult to confidently choose a winner in this one. However, both sides have been fairly poor in defense, for the most part, this season, and it wouldn’t surprise us to see a fair few chances created and converted at both ends in this one. Therefore, our Nantes v Toulouse prediction is for both teams to score.
