Namibia vs Kenya Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON
by Daniel Ngulu in AFCON Predictions
Namibia and Kenya failed to take early control of Group J after their opening matches in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. Both nations will be eyeing three points when they face off on Tuesday, Harambee Stars on one point and the Brave Warriors bottom without a point. Here’s our preview and prediction for the match.
As Namibia lack a venue approved by CAF, they will host this match in nearby South Africa at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg. Namibia will be disadvantaged having played a day after Kenya and traveling all the way from Cameroon for this game.
While Kenya played to a draw with Zimbabwe, their hosts will be looking to rise from a Match Day 1 defeat. It is also key to note that Namibia’s travel to Cameroon was marred with delays in their connecting flight, operated by Kenya Airways.
With all that behind them, it will boil down to how well these teams can address their attacking woes.

Namibia - Kenya: Form Analysis
Hosts Namibia will not come bearing great memories of playing in South Africa. The last time they played there, they were thrashed 5-0 by Angola in the COSAFA Cup. That was their second straight goalless outing in the competition.
Now they head back having failed to score in three consecutive matches. In five of Namibia’s last seven matches, they didn’t score, while they managed more than a goal in just two of 14. Six clean sheets in the 14 outings could, however, point to a solid defence.
That would be a positive to carry into this game, having conceded more than a goal in just three of 18 matches. Six of their last 10 outings yielded under 2.5 goals. In AFCON qualification, Namibia managed just three wins in the last 10 fixtures. That run returned only one clean sheet.
Both teams are struggling in attack ahead of this game and we could have a low-scoring game.
Kenya are coming from a goalless draw with Zimbabwe on Match Day 1, a game they played as hosts but in Uganda. That was their second straight clean sheet but there’s still a lot of improvement to target.
The East African nation will also be going back to South Africa after participating in the COSAFA Cup in June. The Harambee Stars won two of their three matches at the competition but couldn’t advance past the group stage.
Their loss to Comoros there, stands as their only defeat so far in nine matches. Engin Firat’s side has been putting up solid displays in defence lately. They come into this game with six clean sheets in the last nine matches.
This should boost their confidence facing a Namibia side not known for attacking strength. Kenya, however, have just one win in seven AFCON qualification matches.

Namibia & Kenya Squad Analysis
Namibia keeper Edward Maova had a superb game in Cameroon, frustrating the Indomitable Lions for long spells. His performance then should guarantee him another start ahead of Lloyd Kazapua.
Deon Hotto missed a good chance to steal a point in stoppage time and will definitely hope to make amends against Kenya. The Orlando Pirates midfielder is a sure starter and will hope to link up better with Peter Shalulile.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ Shalulile didn’t have much impact against Cameroon but facing a weaker opponent, he should do better.
Kenya will once again miss their main striker, Olunga.
Kenya coach Engin Firat deployed two midfield players as false nines in the match against Zimbabwe. That move backfired as the Turk explored in the absence of skipper Michael Olunga.
The Qatar-based forward is still unavailable which means Firat must rethink the strategy. With John Avire, Benson Omalla and Jonah Ayunga at his disposal, the coach may pick one to lead the attack.
It means one or both of Duke Abuya and Eric Johanna will drop to the bench after struggling in the Zimbabwe game.

Our Namibia vs Kenya Prediction
These two nations haven't had the best of returns in attack and both failed to score in their latest outings. While Kenya didn’t score in three of the last five matches, Namibia have gone goalless in three straight games.
The nations’ recent matches have, as a result, been low-scoring. Kenya and Namibia’s last three meetings produced three goals only and we don’t expect much to change here. Their goal averages support below three goals in this clash.
Therefore, our prediction for Namibia v Kenya is for the game to have under 2.5 goals.
Namibia vs Kenya - Other Interesting Predictions
Both teams to score - No
Only one of these teams’ last four matches had both teams scoring. These nations come into this game struggling in attack. While Namibia’s best forward Peter Shalulile has struggled lately, Kenya miss their talisman in attack, Michael Olunga.
There’s a possibility that at least one or both teams will fail to score and that’s our second prediction.
