Morocco - Tanzania: Form Analysis
Morocco will be the highest ranked in this pool and are expected to easily advance. It hasn’t been a busy run for the Moroccans coming into the match, with the cancellation of two of their recent games, but they remain a strong side. In their only friendly match before heading to Ivory Coast, Morocco beat Sierra Leone 3-1. That was the third straight game in which they scored more than a goal. The North Africans rarely fail to score in their matches and this will be another opportunity to showcase their best. In their last nine matches, Morocco failed to score just once. They also carry into this game an unbeaten run of five matches. They won four of those five matches, keeping three clean sheets. In AFCON matches, Morocco have posted six wins in their last 10 outings. In the last two meetings with Tanzania, Morocco emerged winners.
Tanzania come into this competition as one of the underdogs. Making their third appearance at the biggest competition in Africa, they will hope to leave a bigger impact. Taifa Stars missed out in the last edition after making a second appearance in 2019. Back then, they lost all three group matches, returning home empty handed after the first round. This time they will feel better prepared for the challenge after an impressive qualification campaign. A 0-0 draw with Algeria in the qualifiers remains a key highlight for Tanzania as they come into this game. They’ve managed just one win in their previous meetings with Morocco and have two straight losses ahead of this game. Among those defeats is a 2-0 loss to Morocco in November 2023. In their last five matches, Tanzania managed just one win. They’ll be the only representatives from the East African region but this game will be highlighted by their poor returns against North African teams.

Morocco & Tanzania Squad Analysis
Morocco will be the superior side coming into this game and their star-studded side will be led by head coach Walid Regragui. This is the first major tournament for Regragui since his team’s heroics at the 2022 World Cup. Back then Morocco became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi final and here he will hope to guide his charges to go one better. As the stars of the past start fading off in the playing unit, Morocco have an interesting crop of players coming up. Top of that list is Bayer Leverkusen winger Amine Adli. He will be gunning for only his fifth cap in this game, but has already shown he can be a key member of this squad. Meanwhile, Tanzania coach Adel Amrouche goes to his first AFCON confident of leading Taifa Stars against the giants of Africa. The Algerian understands the African terrain well, having coached Kenya, Burundi and Botswana before. Veteran Mbwana Samatta will once again be their star player and man to watch here. The PAOK forward hasn’t had the best season at club level but will want to level up here, as he has mostly done.
