Morocco vs South Africa Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON

Morocco will start off their 2023 AFCON qualification campaign with a home game against South Africa. The two giants meet in Group K, which has three teams, following Zimbabwe’s suspension, and both lost their last outings – friendly matches. Morocco, who will be heading to the 2022 World Cup, suffered a 3-0 loss to the USA in their last game. That was their second loss in five matches but the first time in 21 matches that they failed to score. They are unbeaten in 11 AFCON qualification matches, with nine clean sheets in that period. At home, in the same qualifiers, they are unbeaten in 15 matches, winning 13 and keeping 13 clean sheets.

South Africa’s last outing ended in humiliation as they lost 5-0 in a friendly match against world champions France. This should be an easier challenge but then they have no win in the last four matches against Morocco. Playing away to Morocco and on a run of three matches without a goal will not inspire a lot of confidence among the South Africans. Things haven’t really worked in their favor in recent times; they missed the 2021 AFCON finals and they didn’t also play in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers. Their only away wins in the last nine matches were against Sao Tome and Ethiopia, much weaker opponents. In those nine away matches they’ve lost six, and they’ve failed to score in four of the last five.
