The two favored teams in Group C meet at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Cameroon to kick off proceedings in their group. Morocco come into this match in red hot form having only lost once in their last 29 matches. That loss came in their last match in the Arab Cup when they were lost on penalties to Algeria in the quarter finals. They had won all their group games and were the group winners before falling agonizingly short to the African champions in the knockout stage. Morocco's excellent form dates back to their World Cup qualifying campaign where they were one of the only teams to win all six of their qualifying games. They will however miss Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech who was not selected for the tournament due to disciplinary issues.

Ghana are four time champions of the AFCON championship and will want to start the campaign of with a win even though they face one of the form teams in Africa. Ghana have come through a tough World Cup qualifying tournament where they needed a 1-0 win over South Africa in their final group game to qualify for Qatar. They usually play their best football during the major events and they have reached the semifinals of AFCON in six consecutive editions from 2008 to 2017. This sequence was broken in 2019 when they lost on penalties to Tunisia in the knockouts after topping their group. They will once again look to the Ayew brothers, Andre and Jordan to guide them into the knockout stage.
