11th-place Monza host 14th-place Genoa for matchday 15 in the Italian Serie A. Monza had a hugely successful first season in the Italian top flight last season and secured an 11th-place finish. They’ll look to build upon that success in their sophomore season and have already gotten off to a decent start. With a 4-6-4 record, the Biancorossi have amassed 18 points which puts them just one point off Torino for a top half spot and six points off of Napoli for a top five position. Monza’s most recent match resulted in a 2-1 home loss to Juventus last Friday. It snapped a four match unbeaten run for the club, although they’ve now managed just a single win in their last six games. It was also the first league defeat that Monza has suffered at the Stadio Brianteo this season after previously having won two and drawn four of their previous six.

After 15 straight seasons in the Serie A, Genoa suffered relegation to the second division in the 2021/22 season. Il Grifone would bounce back immediately, however, winning promotion last season by way of a second-place finish in the Serie B. Now back in the top flight, Genoa will be looking to consolidate their Serie A position this campaign. They’ve experienced a mixed start with their 4-3-7 record giving them an early five point cushion over the drop zone. The visitors saw their Coppa Italia run end in the round of 16 where a 1-0 loss to Lazio saw them eliminated on Tuesday. They’ll be at a rest disadvantage here which is not going to help them improve upon their poor away record. Genoa have lost five of their seven away trips in the Serie A so far and six of eight away matches overall. They’re now on a four game losing streak on the road, failing to score in two of those fixtures.
