Montpellier will be hoping to secure their first win of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season when they play host to Nantes on Saturday evening. La Paillade are in 14th place after the first two games of the new season, while Les Canaris are seventh. Here’s our match prediction. 

Montpellier ended last season in 12th place with 41 points, eight points clear of their upcoming opponents and 12 clear of the drop thanks to a record of 10 wins, 12 draws and 12 losses in 34 matches. 

However, the 2024-25 season has not begun as well as La Paillade would have hoped, with their opening match of the campaign ending in a 1-1 home draw to Strasbourg before they were handed a 6-0 thrashing by PSG last weekend. 

The hosts took 24 points from 19 home games last season, which included a 1-1 draw against this opponent in their last meeting back in April this year. 

Meanwhile, Nantes have made a very promising start to the new season as they enter gameweek three as one of only seven sides to have not tasted defeat over the first two matchdays. 

Les Canaris kicked off the new campaign with a 0-0 draw away to Toulouse but marked their first home game of the term with a solid display, beating newly promoted Auxerre 2-0 last weekend. 

However, including the draw against Toulouse, Nantes have now failed to win any of their last four away games (W0 D3 L1) and also failed to score in their last three ahead of this one.
