Monaco travels to Montpellier for their next Ligue 1 match, needing just a point to secure a top-three finish. Hosts Montpellier’s place in Ligue 1 is secure while Monaco are primed for an automatic Champions League slot. A change in fortunes since March have boosted Montpellier’s season, and a top-half finish is now a reality. They come here with just one loss in the last nine Ligue 1 matches, and that was a big one, against champions PSG. The last two months have been good, Montpellier bagging 21 points from a possible 33 in 11 matches. With a six-match undefeated run coming here, they’ll be fired up for a strong finish to the season. A 2-1 win over Toulouse in the last game places them on a confident footing coming here even though they had Teji Savanier sent off in that game. In the reverse fixture, Montpellier suffered a 2-0 loss to Monaco. They will want to avenge that defeat in their final home match of the season. However, there is a small issue to deal with ahead of this game – their home form has been really poor this season. In their 16 Ligue 1 matches at home, Montpellier managed just three wins.

While Montpellier have had their struggles at home, Monaco come here targeting a 10th away win in Ligue 1. Wissam Ben Yedder’s brace in that game took his tally in the last two matches to four goals and he will be a key figure here. He was also on the mark with a stoppage time goal in the 2-0 win over Montpellier in December, his seventh in nine meetings with Montpellier. As mentioned, Monaco’s away form doesn’t portray a shady side. They come here with seven wins in their last nine away matches in Ligue 1. In that period, they lost just once.
