Montpellier will host Metz in a relegation six-pointer in the French Ligue 1. Two points separate the two sides with Montpellier in 15th having the advantage over 17th-placed Metz. Montpellier haven’t won any of their last four games and are currently on a three-match losing run. Two of those defeats have come in the league. Michel Der Zakarian’s men were defeated 2-1 at home by Lyon last time out to suffer their ninth defeat of the campaign. Having amassed 19 points thanks to four wins and eight draws, Montpellier are separated from the bottom three by just goal difference. One of their four wins however came away to Metz back in December and this should have them confident of success. La Paillade, who haven’t lost to Metz in four meetings, won 1-0.

Metz ended an eight-game losing streak last time out by drawing 1-1 with Marseille away from home. It was a huge result for Laszlo Boloni’s men who will want to build from the point earned. Metz have been defeated 12 times so far, no other team has suffered losses. They have also won four games but haven’t gotten in the win column in the league since November. A positive for the visitors though coming into this match is that they have fared much better when on the road. Three of Metz’s wins have come away from home and so too have 11 of the 17 points. A win for either Montpellier or Metz here will be a big boost in clawing out of the relegation picture.
