Montenegro welcomes Romania to the Stadion Pod Goricom for this match in the group stage of the United Nations League B. Montenegro are of one the newer international teams but they gave an excellent account of themselves in last season's competition which saw them promoted from the C League. Their recent form however does not bode well for them as they have only won one of their last five matches. Montenegro had a disappointing World Cup qualifying tournament where they finished in fourth place in their group, winning just three of their ten matches. Their overall home record is also dismal as they have only won once in their last six home matches. Across the various tournaments Montenegro have only won two of their last 12 matches but will need to start this competition with a home win otherwise their stay in League B could be short lived.

Romania come into this match in pretty decent form having only lost one of their last five matches with two wins and two draws. They had a very good World Cup campaign and narrowly missed out on the playoff competition for teams that finished second as they were just a point behind North Macedonia who clinched second spot. This meant that Romania will have to wait another four years to return to the World Cup with their last appearance back in 1998. They have proven difficult to beat as they have just two losses in their last nine matches across all competitions.
