The Ligue 1 weekend returns with a classic fixture when AS Monaco welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Louis II on Friday night. While the glory days of title wins and Champions League runs are a distant memory for Monaco, they are in the respectable position of sixth after ten games. Ex-Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac is now in charge of the home side. Champions PSG are, as you would expect, top of the table. Two defeats from their opening two matches had pundits anticipating a title race. However, PSG promptly went on to recover their composure and win the following eight matches in a row. The pressure is on Thomas Tuchel to continue performing well domestically while also excelling in Europe. The German boss has a tough task on his hands as PSG are third in their group at the halfway mark of this Champions League stage. To compound their troubles, they are missing a number of key first-team players, including forwards like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. As a result, Monaco may field the more talented forward line. Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland have combined to great effect in recent weeks and may trouble PSG.

Monaco are coming off the back of a two-game win streak. They are unbeaten in their last eight home matches in Ligue 1 with three of their last four ending in victory. Monaco have a terrible record against PSG in recent years, failing to win their last 12 meetings. Worse still, they have conceded at least three goals in their last seven matches against PSG. It doesn't bode well for this meeting but we think that Monaco are in such good home form that they can at least keep the scoreline down. Back Monaco half-time double chance.
