Monaco will be out to hold on top spot in Ligue 1 when they host Nice on Match Day 6. The sides have been exciting and are three places apart; Monaco top and Nice fourth, separated by two points. Hosts Monaco have so far posted 11 points, being one of the four unbeaten sides. They’ve scored the most goals at this stage (15) but they still have defensive work to do. The league leaders have conceded seven times in five matches. The fact that they’ve conceded two or more three times in the last five matches puts strength to this point. In their last match, a late concession denied them a fourth win, drawing 2-2 with Lorient. That was their second draw in three matches but the fifth straight time they scored at least two goals. The hosts will be happy to take this at home, having posted two straight clean sheets there, with wins. In their two home matches this season, Monaco beat Strasbourg and Lens by identical 3-0 margins.

Nice can go top of the standings with a win here, though that is not entirely in their hands. They thrashed Monaco 3-0 in their last game here and will hope for a repeat. That, however, remains their only win in seven meetings with Monaco. Clearly, this is not a fixture Nice will be fond of but they are confident after two straight wins. In the most recent, they held off away from home to beat champions PSG 3-2. That came after a 2-0 home win over Strasbourg. Coming to their second straight away game, they will be gunning for a second straight win over Monaco. Like Monaco, they will have concerns over their defence, having posted just two clean sheets in five matches. Nice failed to score once in their last five matches and both teams scored in three. Away from home, they have no clean sheet in four Ligue 1 matches, both sides scoring in the last three.
