Monaco are in fourth place in Ligue 1 at present and have gone nine games unbeaten since a 5-2 loss at Porto in the Champions League. In terms of French domestic football, they have gone seven games unbeaten and are only two points and two places behind their opponents in this French Cup tie. Monaco have won this competition five times but not since 1991 and their last appearance in the final was eight years ago. They nearly got to the final last season but lost 5-0 in the semi-finals to PSG. They had a comfortable 5-2 win over AS Yzeure in the last round but this is going to be a heck of a lot tougher. Home advantage may well play a part in this match with Monaco having won nine out of twelve home league games this season with the only loss being to leaders PSG and 45 goals scored in those matches. Lyon are in second place in the table but have the best away record in the league with eight wins from 11 games and their only defeat on the road has been to PSG. They have won four of their last five league and cup games and this should be a great cup tie , especially with Lyon coming off a 2-1 home win over PSG at the weekend.. A bet on over 2.5 goals looks to be the one to go for.
