Real Sociedad facing Mirandes in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi final this Thursday is a clash of the giant killers, after the two pulled off good wins in the last round of the competition. While Sociedad downed Real Madrid 4-3, at the Bernabeu, Mirandes secured their slot with a 4-2 home win over Villarreal. With good runs in the competition, and after elimination of the top sides in La Liga, both Mirandes and Sociedad will feel they have a real shot at the Copa del Rey this season. Mirandes twice lost the lead against Villarreal but went on to regain it before putting the game bed late on. This was not the first nor the second top flight side that Miranes felled; it was the third, after Celta Vigo and Sevilla and now the second-tier side has announced its ambition. Will they repeat their feat in this two-legged affair? Real Sociedad, who have been impressive in the season will be keen to ensure they don’t. Mirandes are unbeaten in the last five Copa del Rey matches though this will be their first away game against a top flight side this season. They are unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions and have one loss in the last 15 matches. Mirandes have also not lost any of their last six away matches.
