Millwall had a poor start to last season and there were fears of a relegation battle. Then it all came together and a fantastic second-half to the season saw them finish eighth, just three points adrift of the play-offs. Over the last 25 games of the season only two teams did better than Millwall and they will be hoping to take that form into this new season. Home form last season was strong with 12 wins and only four losses including the vital loss to Fulham towards the end of the season. That's their only loss in their last 15 home league games with four wins in the last five and four clean sheets. The loss to Fulham was followed by a loss away to Middlesbrough that ended their play-off hopes. Pre-season has produced a set of mixed results but they will be hoping for a better start to the season than last year.
Middlesbrough finished fifth in the Championship last season but were 14 points off the automatic promotion spots and only four ahead of Millwall. They lost to Aston Villa in the Championship play-off semi-final dooming them to another season in the Championship. Pre-season has been rather forgettable with four losses and their only two wins being over non-league sides. This week saw them sell striker Patrick Bamford to Leeds United for £10m so they will need to get a replacement before the transfer window opens. A bet on under 2.5 goals looks the one to go for in this game.
