Millwall vs Brentford Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Daniel Ngulu | in Championship Predictions
After two impressive outings in the Carabao Cup, Millwall were dumped out in the third round by Premier league side Burnley and now focus shifts fully to the Championship, where they host Brenford on Saturday. Millwall lost 2-0 to Burnley on Wednesday night and will be hoping to pick themselves up for the league game that follows, looking to build on the win over Rotherham in their last league game. Before the loss to Burnley, Millwall had not lost in their opening four games of the season, winning three and drawing one. They are among the six sides yet to concede a goal in the Championship after two match days and will be hoping to extend this in Week 3 while improving in attack. Millwall have scored once in their two opening matches in the Championship but will be confident, having lost just once in their last six Championship matches. They are not the best scorers out there; last season, they were the lowest scorers among the teams that finished in the top 16 in the league, with 57 goals in 46 matches. Going to this clash, they have scored one or less in eight of the last 10 league matches. They have two wins in their last 10 home matches in the Championship and eight of the 10 matches have ended in under 2.5 goals with Millwall having scored two or more in just two of the 10.
Brentford started their campaign in the Championship with a loss to Birmingham but recovered well to see off Huddersfield Town 3-0 in their second match. They head to this clash straight from a win on post-match penalties against Premier League side, West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup. In the game, they twice had to come from down to draw 2-2 at full time before going on to win 5-4 on penalties. For Brentford, this will be their sixth game of the season, having negotiated well through the three rounds of Carabao Cup and one aspect they will take pride in is that from their opening five matches, they have scored in four and in their last three matches, they have scored two goals or more. In their last two matches they have scored five goals and all these have come in the second half, and they haven’t conceded in the first half in their last three matches. Having eliminated two Premier League teams in their last two rounds of the Carabao Cup points to Brentford’s abilities. They will be using this as the springboard to do better than their appearance in the promotion playoffs last season. They finished poorly away from home last season though, with two straight losses and started this campaign in the Championship with an away loss as well. Having failed to score in three straight away matches in the Championship, they will be looking to put to an end that unwanted run here. They lost 1-0 to Millwall in their last meeting but that is their only loss in the last four meetings, while they have won twice in the four. In the last seven meetings between these two sides, only one has produced over 2.5 goals.

Our Millwall vs Brentford Prediction
These two sides are not known for scoring a lot of goals in matches between them, and going to this clash, with their recent form and the prospects, we foresee another low scoring affair. Brentford are coming from a key victory in the Carabao Cup and will be looking to put it as a marker for a good showing here but their away run in the Championship is not so good. On the other hand, Millwall ‘s attack does not inspire a lot of confidence and with this in mind, we will go for Under 2.5 goals in this clash.
