Middlesbrough will continue with their recovery when they play host to West Bromwich Albion in their next Championship game. They are 10 points above the drop zone, and hoping to slow West Brom, who are fifth. A 3-0 win over Port Vale in the League Cup extended their winning run to two matches. The last time in the Championship, they beat Swansea City 2-1. After two straight away games, they now have the chance to do it in front of their home fans. Boro will however want to improve on their two straight losses at home before this game. A 2-1 loss to Hull City the last time they played at home made it three defeats in five at Riverside. A big positive that Michael Carrick’s side brings to this game is the fluidity in attack. They have only failed to score once in 10 matches. However, they carry just three clean sheets in 10 games ahead of this.

West Bromwich Albion are also coming from two unbeaten outings, though their recent run has been shaky. In their last outing they rose from a goal down to draw Stoke City 1-1. That came after their only win in four matches, a 2-0 victory over Rotherham United. In their last five matches, West Brom managed two clean sheets only. Like Middlesbrough, they have a good scoring run, netting in all their last 10 matches. In their last five matches, both teams managed to score. It hasn’t been smooth away from home, but West Brom have managed four wins in their last seven away games. The win over Rotherham was their most recent away game. They haven't managed back-to-back away wins this season though.
