Middlesbrough - Leicester: Form Analysis
Middlesbrough haven’t lost in two outings. After defeating Exeter to advance in the League Cup, Boro battled to earn a point against Plymouth last time out in the league. Michael Carrick’s men scored three goals for the second match in a row but lost the lead twice to draw 3-3. The draw moved them to 21 points and they now sit four points outside of the playoff places. Boro have won six matches this season and three of those have come with them as hosts. They have also lost three times at the Riverside Stadium including in their last outing there.
Leicester City suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds United last weekend. Their second loss of the season allowed second-placed Ipswich to cut their lead atop the standings to three points. Enzo Maresca’s charges will therefore be keen to get back to winning ways to avoid losing their number-one status. The Foxes have hit the ground running in their quest to return back to winning ways. They have won the most matches of any team in the second tier with 13 and have won all seven away games. Before the loss to Leeds, Leicester had won six consecutive matches.

Middlesbrough & Leicester Squad Analysis
Middlesbrough have no less than six first-team players out injured at the moment. Tommy Smith, Sonny Finch, and Lewis O’Brien are long-term absentees. Marcus Forss, Darragh Lenihan, and Riley McGree aren’t much further away from returning to the fold but will for sure be out here. McGree’s absence is a big blow for the hosts as the Australian is the club’s top scorer. He has scored five goals and provided a further two assists. Josh Coburn and Sam Greenwood were on the score sheet in the draw with Plymouth with the latter grabbing a brace. The two are among eight Boro players to have scored at least three goals this season.
Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndindi is out until after the upcoming international break. He is joined in the treatment room by Callum Doyle and Dennis Praet. Yunus Akgun had a muscle issue last week and is a potential doubt here. Some good news though for the visitors is that summer signing Tom Cannon might be included here for the first time this season. The Irish forward has been out since signing from Everton due to a back problem. Kieran Dewsbury-Hall and Kelechi Iheanacho have both scored five league goals while Kasey McAteer and Jamie Vardy have chipped in with four each.
